Hello! I'm Jana Harry. I teach both 5th and 6th grade Gifted and Talented in the Pascagoula-Gautier IDEAS program. Although I am originally from Nevada, I have lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for over 20 years and have been an IDEAS teacher for 8 years. I enjoy art, photography, cooking, gardening, and traveling. Most of all I enjoy learning!
I have a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and a master's degree in Secondary Education. Recently I became a National Board Certified Teacher in Early and Middle Childhood Art!
My students are the best and brightest in the school district! My 6th graders learn how to build and compete with robots. All of my students learn about Art Media, Techniques, Art History, and Art Criticism. My students practice Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation. In addition, I teach Latin and Public Speaking. I feel that students need to become Self-Directed in their learning so that they can continue to explore topics that interest them on their own. Learning how to research and apply information leads to Life-Long Learning habits!
